IFMAR Large Scale Worlds on target for capacity entry

The IFMAR Large Scale World Championships look set to return with a potential capacity entry in Switzerland as the governing body published details on the latest entries ahead of the Summer event.  The last World title for the class was awarded back in 2022 after the planned 2024 World Championships in Australia was cancelled due to a lack of entries.  With the class popular in Europe, the awarding of the race to the iconic MRTM Lostallo track, the home of large scale racing, the 12th running of the Worlds looks set to be close to the 150 permitted entries.  In its post, IFMAR highlighted that 111 entries have been received from the EFRA Bloc (Europe), with 6 from FEMCA (Asia), 1 from FAMAR (South America) and up to 5 from ROAR (North America).  With the Worlds 3 & a half months away, any open places with be redistributed the first week of which could allow 16 more drivers from Europe to join the race.  With Lostallo hosting the opening round of the 2026 Euro Large Scale Series last weekend, which was won by reigning World Champion Markus Feldmann, round 2 of that series at the end of June will act as the World Warm-up race, track staging the actual Worlds from July 27 to August 1st.

Ulitech Awesomatix Diff Tool Set

Czech brand Uli-Tech has created this Diff Tool set for building Awesomatix diffs.  The company say it is specially designed to make your work as easy as possible during rebuilds, including the fact that you do not have to remove the pulley during installation, and excess oil is guided by the seal to an easily wipeable place.  The development was carefully tested by people who have been racing with the Awesomatix chassis for a long time and who are confident this tool will make your work much easier and more precise.  For video demo of the Uli-Tech Diff Tool click here.

Feldmann wins ELS opener at Lostallo

The opening round of the Euro Large Scale Series (ELS) 2026 took place at Lostallo in Switzerland over the weekend where it was reigning 1:5 Touring Car World Champion Markus Feldmann who took the win.  In qualifying it was Feldmann who took his GRP equipped Mecatech to the TQ honours and a new lap record ahead of Italian’s Emanuele D’amico and Edoardo Repetti.  In Super Pole shot out, it was D’amico who locked himself a direct spot into the half hour final.   While D’amico set the fastest lap of the final he could not deny his German rival the win, Feldmann’s advantage after 75-laps being almost 10-seconds.  With Repetti retirng from the race after 18-minutes, the podium was completed by Belgium racer Giovanni Verbrugghe who started from 10th on the grid.  Behind him reigning European Champion Carsten Keller came home in P4.  Round 2 of the Euro Large Scale Series takes place over the weekend of June 26-28, again at Lostallo, the race also serving as the official Warm-up Race for the Large Scale World Championships scheduled for August.

PN Racing CXR 1:28 Lexan Body

New from 1:28 racing specialists and World Cup organisers PN Racing comes the all-new CXR Lexan Body.  The company which was found in 2002 by Philip Ng say the CXR is specifically engineered for the most demanding tracks and is designed to push the limits of speed and agility.  Focusing on the core physics that matter on the track it features an Ultra-Low CG and is designed to sit low on the chassis, minimising body roll and keeping your car planted.  Reduced Drag is achieved by its streamlined profile that slices through the air for higher top speeds on the straights.  It also has increased downforce thanks to optimised front and rear aero to maximise tyre grip when it matters most.  Responsive handling lets you dive into the apex with confidence and exit with speed.  The CXR is available in two specialised thicknesses to suit your racing style and track conditions.  The 0.7mm Standard Weight version is the perfect balance of durability and performance for daily racing and high-impact sessions.  The 0.5mm Light Weight version is the ultimate choice for serious competitors shaving off every possible gram to achieve lightning-fast acceleration and the sharpest transitions.

Avalon Vortex Touring Car Body

New German RC start-up Avalon Racing has unveil its upcoming Vortex 1:10 Electric Touring Car Body Shell releasing a number of renders of its first creation.   Established by Andy Kühne and Julius Schaefer, they say the Vortex is an all-new, high-performance polycarbonate bodyshell designed from the ground up.  Developed entirely in Germany using state-of-the-art 3D CAD technology and validated through extensive on-track testing by various drivers, they say Vortex is set to become a serious contender for competitive drivers seeking measurable aerodynamic gains.  Using a complete rethink of downforce and rotation, at the heart of the Vortex concept is a fundamental re-engineering of how downforce, rotation, and chassis responsiveness interact at the limit. The body’s signature ducktail rear design simultaneously reduces rotational inertia and generates strong, predictable downforce through corners — a combination that translates directly into higher corner speeds and more consistent lap times.  A curved rear wing profile ensures optimal airflow and rear grip, while a wide rear wing adjustment range gives drivers the flexibility to fine-tune the setup for different track surfaces, grip levels, and driving styles. Additional geometric stiffness built into the body structure ensures that aerodynamic loads are transferred efficiently to the chassis.    The EFRA-Homologated Avalon Vortex, which will be made in Germany, is scheduled for release in Spring 2026.

Kurzbuch wins Ielasi Tuned Trophy

Mugen Seiki’s Simon Kurzbuch enjoyed another win on Italian soil, the Swiss racer backing up his recent win of the Pepe Group International Race with victory at the annual Ielasi Tuned Trophy.  A race first hosted by former World Champion Daniele Ielasi in 2015, the annual Ielasi Tuned Trophy again attracted some big names to the Northern Italian Leno track.  While last year’s winner Dario Balestri was absent from this year’s line-up, qualifying for the 7th edition would see Kurzbuch secure the 1:8 TQ ahead of Capricorn’s Toni Gruber, Infinity’s Francesco Tironi and Serpent’s Mirko Salemi while World Championship Top Qualifier Andrea Catanzani ended up P6.  While Gruber would post the fastest lap of the 45-minute final, the German could do anything about Kuzbuch taking the win, his margin 9.5-seconds at the finish.  Kurzbuch’s father assisted in pit lane for the final by US racer Paolo Morganti who nlw heads up Ielasi Tuned America.  Salemi would just hold off Simone Lotti for the final podium pacing.  Catanzani would finish P5 ahead of Tironi who hit problems late in the first half of the race but rejoined after losing over a minute.  In 1:10, Mario Spiniello took the TQ but retired from the final with Australian stalwart Gerhard Kandelhart, last year’s Top Qualifier but hitting trouble in the final, taking the win.

INOV8 3DX Carbon Tweak Plate

Ryan Maker’s Inov8 brand has released new 3DX Carbon set-up items for 1:10 Onroad in the form of a new Carbon Tweak Plates and new Carbon Aligned 10mm Droop Block Set.  The tweak plate is a perfectly flat surface for de-tweaking your car that also features a centre cut-out to be able to access motor-mount screws from underneath, to aid in detecting chassis tweaks, and to be able to hold your car flat whilst you tighten motor-mount screws.  The plate is made from 5mm thick 6K twill matte carbon with engraved INOV8 “N” Logo and is available with both bronze or silver feet and features anti scratch/slip padding underneath.  The aligned droop block set presents a great solution to checking your droop with the set including a 4mm Rod, which is inserted into the 10mm Carbon droop blocks, keeping them aligned while you do your droop. This keeps the readings more accurate when checking tweak and droop.  A nice 3D Printed case keeps everything together, with the rod snapping on the side and the blocks sliding inside the case. Inov8 also have an additional block sold separately which can be used as a 3rd block which would sit in the centre of the rod.  This can be great to use the aligned droop blocks as a chassis tweak plate. This 3rd block in the centre prevents the chassis drooping in the middle.  The set comes in at a lightweight 18 grams making it perfect for travel to races.
